About

Did you join Black & Wild for the WFA + CPR training and wanted to add some herbal medicines to your first aid kit? Or maybe you are looking to add some herbal remedies to your home medicine cabinet? OR even just wanting to learn some new ways to take care of your body in relationship with some plants already growing around you?

This weekend retreat will be a deep dive into herbal medicines that can be called upon in times of acute illness or accident. Whether that’s an addition to your first aid kit for in the field support or a medicine that you build a daily practice with, this retreat will start to introduce you to clinical strength folk preparations that you can learn to depend on.

Working in tandem to pharmaceuticals is a benefit that we have today as herbalists and while plants and herbal medicines are millennia old & trusted medicines, being able to discern when to rely on plants and when to call on pharmaceuticals, especially in first aid crisis situations, is a skill we’ll talk about and start to build on.

We will prepare a tincture, a hydrosol, and a salve for you to take home. Together we’ll go over the process from harvest to medicine together and deep dive into the plants we use in the preparations.

The retreat weekend will allow for time to rest & be in community. We welcome craft projects for fireside creating, stories or games to share. We’ll have time to cook on the fire, go on a plant walk together, harvest herbs and medicine making.
