Details:

This trip is based on a $275-525 sliding scale to support operating costs. If you would like to sponsor a ticket for someone please purchase a second ticket with "Sponsorship" in the comments. These immersions offer opportunity to experience the healing benefits of the natural world through various mindfulness-based forest bathing activities, space to engage in collaborative activities and conversation that build connection with human and more-than-human kin, and naturalist skills that empower your own wiilderness trips in confidence such as how to set up tents, pack a backpacking pack, navigate with and without a compass, start a fire, tie knots, and identify various plants and trees.

Trail: Long Trail, Big Branch Wilderness, Mount Tabor VT

**Due to safety concerns for the group, we do not disclose specific sleeping locations prior to registration. I understand this may cause some concerns/ feelings around uncertainty for folks looking to register and want to respect what may arise. Please reach out to raei@the-rusty-anvil.land if you feel you need more specific information before registration.**

Here is a general itinerary for our time together. General intinerary is subject to change based on the group's needs and comfort level.

Day 1 (diving into the skills):

  • Gather 12 pm (meeting location will be off trail in a semi-wooded area to ease into the experience) 
  • Context of trip and introductions
  • Clothing run through and packing bags
  • Tapping into intuition/ listening to the land
  • Setting up camp/tents
  • Fire building
  • Camp cooking/dinner
  • Bear hang and knots
  • Pre-trip talk/ four directions discussion
  • Free time/ communion

Day 2

  • Wake (semi-pack bags)
  • Stretch/collective movement
  • Sit-spot meditation/intention
  • Share council
  • Breakfast
  • Fully pack bags
  • Travel to trailhead (1 hour 45 mins)
  • Arrive at trailhead
  • Hike in (1.1 miles & 150ft elevation gain) (about 1 hour & 15 mins+ time for breaks. General group timing is hike for 50 mins break for 10 mins packs off with additional packs on breaks as needed)
  • Introduce forest bathing practices
  • Forest bathing activity
  • Lunch on trail
  • Arrive
  • Set up camp
  • Free time
  • Forest bathing activity
  • Share council
  • Dinner
  • Communion

Day 3

  • Wake (semi-pack bags)
  • Stretch/collective movement
  • Sit-spot meditation/intention
  • Share council
  • Breakfast
  • Fully pack bags
  • Set intention
  • Hike to next location ( 6 miles & 1,093 ft elevation gain) about 6 hours with a 1 mph pace+ time for breaks)
  • Lunch on trail/share council
  • Arrive
  • Set up camp
  • Free time
  • Forest bathing activity
  • Dinner
  • Communion

Day 4

  • Wake (semi-pack bags)
  • Stretch/collective movement
  • Sit-spot meditation/intention
  • Share council
  • Breakfast
  • Fully pack bags
  • Set intention
  • Hike out to parking area ( 7 miles & 640 ft elevation gain) about 7 hours with a 1 mph pace+ time for breaks)
  • Lunch on trail/share council
  • Arrive
  • Depart to initial meeting location
  • Unpack bags and return gear
  • Debrief
  • Depart (6pm)

WHAT IS PROVIDED TO YOU:

  • gear (your own tent, backpacks, sleepings bags, sleeping pads, etc). 
  • food and snacks
  • transportation to/from trailhead (will need one volunteer to caravan)

WHAT IS NOT PROVIDED TO YOU:

  • transportation to/from meeting location
  • personal gear (clothes, shoes, toiletries, etc)
  • Specialty personal snacks (we will provide snacks for everyone but cannot provide specific snacks for dietary needs other than gluten-free folks)
