Artist Immersion Weekend

**Due to COVID-19 this trip is only open to those who reside in MA or the surrounding New England States and are able to drive to this immersion. Each participant will be required to take a covid-19 test prior to attending**

Details

What is provided to you:

• Gear (including backpacks, tents, sleeping bags and pads, headlamps, and cooking equipment, bowls, cups, etc.)
• Food
• Transportation to the trailhead FROM initial meeting location (We will need one volunteer to caravan behind Raei’s car).

What is NOT provided to you:

• Your personal gear (clothes, shoes, toiletries, etc.)               
  • Please contact Raei@the-rusty-anvil.land if you feel you need support with clothing and appropriate layers.

      

• Transportation TO/FROM the initial meeting location on August 27th & 30th (please contact Raei@the-rusty-anvil for transportation support).

The Reclaim Your Liberation Project centers what it means for QTBIPOC folks to reconnect to the self, the land, and our Ancestors through artistic expression while immersed in the natural world.  This project is in partnership with artist Lia Russell-Self, The Mount: Edith Wharton's Home, and is hosted by The Office: Performing Arts and Film's "Artists at Work" project. 

During our time we will dive deep into ritual, movement, conversation, art, and activities to explore and express how we navigate this time in history together, and how we can support eachother for the journey. Participants will find time to pause, rest, and reclaim their time on the land and with community. In addition participants will learn various naturalist skills that encourage and empower them to take their own trips in confidence. These immersions serve as an opportunity to cross the threshold into reclaiming your ancestral relationship to the natural world in ways that empower you to find your strength as a QTBIPOC individual.

This weekend will serve to collect photo and video of this journey of reclamation and will be used  to create a QTBIPOC artistic archive for future generations. Together we will make history that will set in stone our commitment to returning to the land, ourselves, and eachother. Imagery and media taken on this trip will be used for both the Artists at Work project and

The Rusty Anvil's archival and promotional material.There will be a videographer documenting this trip.

Accessibility

This trip is donation based. 

Trail length: 2.0 miles

Elevation gain/drop: 150 ft drop

This trip is for beginners, seasoned backpackers, and everyone in between. Please arrive with a beginner's mind and respect for where everyone is on their journey of returning to the land as this looks different for all of us. This immersion will take participants through a varying terrain. The trail for this immersion is considered easy but a bit technical due to the prescence of rocks.
